Remembering Greg's Last Four Months

 |
March - Last photos all 4 Vasich brothers. Mike was home on
spring break. |

 |
April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 2004 Greg went to visit Jenny at Purdue for the weekend.
Annie and Ryan were there too. Ryan thankfully snapped these last photos of
our dear Greg. Sunday afternoon, upon returning to Naperville, we were so
happy to see him as we all had just returned from a trip to Florida for a
week without him. We showed him our digital photos and had dinner
together. |
 |
April 5th, (opening day for the Cubs, they won 7-4)
Greg went to work at Ketchmark and Associates where he worked full time as a
draftsman. He got a haircut after work. Monday was the NCAA championship
game UConn vs. Kentucky. It was a lopsided game with UConn winning.
Greg watched the game for a bit. He and Milt talked after the game about a
graduate class Milt was taking, then Greg talked to Jenny on the phone
and as they did each and every day they were apart. |
 |
April 6th, Tuesday, Greg went to work, came home and
then went to Annie's Passover Seder dinner. |
 |
April 7th, Greg went to work, came home, walked Ginger,
played trombone with Paul as he practiced his saxophone. Greg told Paul how
musically talented he was. We had dinner, then watched a little American
Idol. |
 |
April 8th, after breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Greg was whistling "Don't Let
the Sun Go Down on Me". Then he said "Bye, I'm going to Evanston after
work". He went out to lunch with Ketchmark co-workers to a Chinese
restaurant; went to the bank and drove to Evanston to meet Joe for dinner
and then to see a cinematographer speak at Northwestern. Afterwards he and
Joe went to Burger King with Mark. Mom called him at 1:10 and said "Where
are you?" He said he was in Evanston and said, "I'll see you in an hour".
He headed for home at 1:30 a.m., talking to Jenny on his cell phone. |
 |
April 9, 2004 2:35 a.m. Greg was hit by a
drunk driver high on cocaine who ran the red light as he had no
brakes. The intersection of Naperville Road and 75th Street is only 1 mile from home.
Our dear son died instantly.
Our world has changed forever. |
