Many
people come and go each day, and few stop to realize how important they
are to them. At 3:10am on Friday April 10, 2004 the world lost one of
the greats... Gregory Vasich.
Greg was a recent graduate of the University of Illinois, and a fellow
trombone player in the Marching Illini. My first memory of Greg was
during the Illinois @ M*chigan game in 1999 when the Illini stormed back
to defeat M*chigan. When we were down by 3 touchdowns late in the 3rd
quarter, Greg told us to keep our spirits up because there was "no
problem"... "we have em right where we want em" he said. If the
Illini were ever losing in a game, we'd look to Greg, because with
him... it was no problem
Greg is one of the funniest men I will ever
have known. Between all the rally caps, Cubs comments, anti horn
flashes, "ubers" and "no problems", is a man who will be missed by the
entire Illinois community. Jenny, my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out
to you. May you have warm tidings in this dark time.
I know Greg is looking down on us from Heaven,
wearing shorts and sandals with his orange, fitted Illinois cap turned
inside out... shaking his head with a silly grin... trying to let us
know that he's "uber fine" and there's "no problem." I love you Greg and
may you rest in peace. We will miss you more than you know.
